How to Use a Neti Pot – with Daniel Vitalis

This is a great demonstration of how to use a Neti Pot as well as information on its benefits.  The Saline solution can be drying to the nasal cavities so I recommend lubricating the nose and ears after flushing and cleaning with Nasya Oil to penetrate the tissues.

My Easy Neti Pot Nasal Flush – Step by Step
  • Make a solution of saline, baking soda and sanitized water.
Mix a pinch of finely ground non-iodized sea-salt and small pinch of baking soda in the neti pot with warm distilled, boiled, or filtered water until the salt is completely dissolved.
  • Test the water on your wrist, it should feel slightly warm and taste like tears.
  • NOTE:  Do not use untreated tap water or iodized table salt!
  • Bend over the sink and turn your head to one side so that your ear is facing the sink. Breathe through your mouth.
  • Insert the spout of the net pot into the upper nostril. Hold it in such a way as to form a seal. Raise the pot so the saline solution flows into the upper nostril and out of the lower nostril.
(If it drains out of your mouth, lower your forehead in relation to your chin.)
  • Empty ½ of the pot per nostril.
  • Repeat the process on the other side.
  • Blow your nose gently into a tissue.
  • Drip 2-3 drops of Nasya Oil in each nostral.  Massage nose and sinuses
  • Blow your nose gently into a tissue.
  • Clean your neti pot with hot water and soap, allow to air dry to kill any bacteria.
